Nicole Niven
Nicole is a graduate of Gray’s School of Art, Aberdeen, 2007 with a BA (Hons) Fine Art Printmaking. She lives in Aberdeenshire in the rural village of Kennethmont.
Nicole’s interest in art and design began very early while she was at secondary school. She supplemented her income while in university by designing and making jewellery. Her jewellery is made using recycled or found beads and buttons, many of which have been given to her or discovered by her in rakes through charity shops and car boot sales.
Nicole is best known for her brightly coloured printed digital images. These images begin as screenprints or monoprints. They are then photographed or scanned and manipulated on the computer. She is inspired by the things people use or see everyday that are generally taken for granted.
