Carol Mather
Carol Mather currently lives and works in London but was born in Oban, Argyllshire. She studied wood, metal, ceramics and textiles at college in Leeds and Cheshire.
“My pieces start life as flat sheet silver, from which I pierce out the basic body pattern. The pieces are then formed over various shaped stakes and soldered together. Etched, stamped and hammered textures are applied to the finished pieces to give skin and fur texture and pattern. I then patinate the silver to achieve the various colours, and finish with a method of polishing which allows me to be selective and give the pieces patterns and highlights. All the ranges are hallmarked and all the stones I use are semi-precious”.
Carol has exhibited in London, Hamburg, Stafford, Boston USA, Yorkshire and Brussels, whilst her pieces can be found for sale in the UK, Germany and Japan.
