Jo Hearn

Following a Fine Art (Painting) Degree in London, I have worked as a painter using abstract /semi abstract subject matter. After obtaining my own kiln, I have been able to explore the medium of clay and glaze with great freedom. As a painter I am very interested in the decoration of the ceramic surface using shape, colour, texture and relief.

My wall plaques are based on images taken from my paintings and from photographs of landscapes. Using stoneware clay each piece is slab built, with relief, incised and bisque fired. I use a variety of underglazes, opaque and semi-transparent glazes and lustres, with 2-4 firings per wall plaque. The plaques are mounted on a sandblast glass backplate or on a white board. Each piece is unique.

The ceramic pendants are made from white earthenware clay to three designs (tube, triangle and knot) and are glazed with a variety of colours. Necklace options include:- solid silver choker, solid silver snake chain, single strand/multi strand stainless steel cable, rubber and leather cord.
