Michael Fuchs

I live and work with young adults with special needs at Cairnlee House, which is part of the Camphill Rudolf Steiner Schools in Aberdeen.

Before I came to Scotland I did a two year apprenticeship as a basketmaker in Germany.

When doing basketry one of my priorities is to make solid and functional baskets in traditional shapes, using traditional techniques. However, some of my baskets have more unusual shapes and different weaving patterns because I like to be innovative and try new ideas.

In recent years I have found I have become more and more interested in the challenge of sculptureal work and have taken part in several exhibitions.
