Kim Bramley
Kim graduated with a BA Degree in Fashion and Textile Design from Central St Martins School of Art in London before working as a freelance fashion and textile designer in Germany, France, Spain, New York and with Zandra Rhodes in London..
In 1992 she set up her own business making and selling handmade paper and cards before deciding she wanted a change of medium. Living on the Isle of Skye and excited by colour and light she decided to explore glass design and found she could fuse glass in a small pottery kiln that had been given to her.
She attended the recent Masterclass in fusing at North Lands Creative Glass in Lybster which she found inspiring, meeting people from all over the world including Israel, Finland, France and the USA.
In her work she plays with colour and describes ‘the incredible beauty and grace of light which is created by the mysterious, sometimes harsh, yet enticing environment of Skye’ as her constant influence.
She fuses layers of coloured glass to create plates, brooches and large glass hangings for interior spaces as well as double-glazed architectural panels for windows and doors. One of her wall hangings will be on display in the foyer at Chelsea Craft Fair.
